REGINA SHEN SERIES DESCRIPTION

Abrupt climate change melted ice caps, flooded coasts, and expanded deserts. The World Federation’s notorious Department of Antiquities polices barrier walls and suppresses knowledge from the past. Three-hundred-plus-year-old Grand Old Dames rule using a caste system.

Regina Shen is an outcast condemned to live on the seaward side of barrier walls. She survives by her wits on swampy islands and thrives on salvage from sunken cities, including illegal print books from before the Federation. With her photographic memory, she defies Antiquities by reading books not available in the Federation. The Federation claims she has unique DNA that could single-handedly reverse the extinction of humankind. It’s too bad she doesn’t trust them enough to barter fairly, let alone with her life.

Regina Shen: Resilience – A hurricane threatens to destroy Regina’s world. Separated from sister, mom, and home, with Antiquities in pursuit, Regina fights to stay alive and avoid capture while hunting for family. Does she have the resilience to survive both the storm and Antiquities?

Regina Shen: Vigilance – Pursued by Antiquities, Regina jumps the barrier wall into the Federation to find her kidnapped sister and winds up on a closed-university campus with heavy security. Regina must use her wits to escape and rescue her sister without letting either of two rival inspectors capture her. Can she rescue her sister from an obvious trap?

Regina Shen: Defiance – Rival Antiquities inspectors fight over capturing Regina to gain power amidst turmoil over who will become the new World Premier. Regina has to flee from Virginia through desert and wilderness to Alaska to hunt a treasure big enough to barter for her freedom and that of her sister. Can she find allies and tools to remain free long enough to find something to trade?

Help us celebrate the new series release.

Regina Shen Series Release

I want to clear up some confusion on the timing of release of the first two novels of the Regina Shen series.

Regina Shen Resilience Regina Shen Vigilance

The release has been targeted all along for May 15. However, when award opportunities presented with a May 1 publication deadline, we decided to allow the first book to be available early to qualify.

The official release is still May 15 for both Regina Shen: Resilience and Regina Shen: Vigilance. We have scheduled a blog tour for May 18-31 with LolasBlogTours.net to get the word out. We are also looking at promotional pricing in conjunction with the tour. So say tuned.

Regina Shen Review

Tori Shultz, a LitPick Student Reviewer, has reviewed the first book in the series—Regina Shen: Resilience as follows:

Regina Shen Resilience

Most people say not to judge a book by its cover. Unfortunately, I can’t help myself from doing so. If the cover doesn’t grab me from the start, I won’t bother looking at it. With Regina Shen: Resilience, this was not a problem. The cover art was very dark, but beautifully executed. Regina Shen holding the crossbow on the front cover was stunning; I was immediately intrigued by the book.

Some authors have trouble putting new worlds into words, but that was not the case for Lance Erlick. The author’s descriptions were well-written, resulting in me fully understanding the world.

The main character, Regina, was likable from the start. She loved to learn and was an amazing survivor. I felt that I could relate well to her, even though we both live in completely different worlds. My only wish was that the story was longer. At just over 200 pages, it was a quick read for me.

Overall, the author did an amazing job, and if you like post-apocalyptic novels about survival, this is definitely the book for you.

Regina Shen: Resilience is available for pre-order on Amazon.
